Size guide

Ring sizes in Iran follow the European ISO standard: the size number is the inner circumference in millimetres. Size 54 means 54 mm around the inside, about 17.2 mm across.

Bangle sizes

Bangles are sized by inner diameter. A closed bangle has to pass over the widest part of the hand (the knuckles, thumb tucked in), so measure the hand, not the wrist.

Bracelet lengths

Measure round the wrist just above the wrist bone and add 1.5–2 cm for a chain bracelet; 1 cm is enough for a snug fit.

Chain and necklace lengths

Lengths are for an average neck; on a wider neck a chain sits a little higher. Go one length up for a heavy pendant.

Measuring at home

  1. Wrap a non-stretchy string or a thin strip of paper round the base of the finger.
  2. Mark where the ends meet — snug, not tight.
  3. Unwrap it and read the length to the mark in millimetres. That is the circumference, and your size.
  4. The ring must also pass the knuckle; if yours is wide, go half a size up.

  1. Lay a ring that fits the same finger on a ruler.
  2. Read the distance between the inside edges at the widest point: that is the inner diameter.
  3. Enter it in the calculator above, or multiply by 3.14 for the circumference and size.

Tips

  • Measure at the end of the day at room temperature; fingers are thinner in the morning and in the cold.
  • For a wide band (over 6 mm) go half to one size up.
  • One size is 1 mm of circumference, only about 0.3 mm of diameter — measure carefully.
  • Left and right hands often differ; measure the finger the ring is for.

Tolerance and 3D files

In making and casting, about half a millimetre of circumference (half a size) either way is normal, and metal shrinks slightly as it cools. For 3D files the model's size is in the Specifications section of the product page; that is the outer size of the whole model, not the inner diameter. Check the file's description for the ring size or ask the seller; most designers can resize a file.
